Two months, two riders: winter in New Zealand!

After a long all-mountain season in Europe, Mavic enduro riders Pauline Dieffenthaler and Jérôme Clementz rested for the holidays. But after just a month off the bike, and with the prospect of a cold and wet winter ahead, the two made a plan to escape. They joined some mates down south for a 2-month adventure in New Zealand.

To make the travel easier, Clementz and Dieffenthaler bought a camper van. The editor of Spoke Magazine, Caleb Smith, showed them the first sections of trail and put them in touch with all the Kiwi riders. From this point, every day was an adventure of trails, tourism, and spectacular outdoor scenery.

“We found some amazing trails networks in Rotorua, Wellington, Queenstown and Wanaka,” said Clementz. “We also went on epic singletrack around Taupo, Marlborough Sound, and Nelson, where you have to hike your bike to the top of the mountain before going down for hours.”

Clementz completed the successful trip by taking part in two rounds of the New Zealand National Downhill Cup. Finishing 4th and 7th, he’s feeling good about the upcoming European Enduro series.
