Rodriguez conquers Fleche Wallonne

On a stormy day in Belgium, Joaquim Rodriguez of the Katusha team powered up the Mur de Huy to take victory on the Fleche Wallonne. After two years of finishing second, it was a triumphant day for the Spaniard.

Rodriguez was in a large chase group that finally caught an early breakaway on the critical last climb. As the riders surged forward toward the finish, he jumped and gained 15 meters. Rodriquez fought off the challenges from Michael Albasini (GreenEdge) and Philippe Gilbert (BMC) to hold his advantage to the line.

After the race, Rodriguez was emotional and happy, saying it was the best victory of his life. Congratulations from Mavic to Joaquim and his loyal teammates at Katusha!
