Mavic riders continued a strong spring campaign in Europe, with victories in a wide variety of races during the month of April.
In the Vuelta Ciclista al Pais Vasco, Joaqim Rodriguez of the Katusha team scored a gutsy solo win on the steep uphill finish of stage 4. And on the very next day, he outsprinted Samuel Sanchez (Euskaltel –Euskadi) to win stage 5. In the end, Rodriguez finished in second overall after a strong week of racing.
In the Circuit Cycliste Sarthe – pays de la Loire, it was the chance for the Garmin-Barracuda team. They won stage 2a with Dutchman Michael Kreder. Just a few days later, Thomas Dekker outsmarted the sprinters to take stage 4. With this result, he moved to 5th on the overall classification.
